Pakistan Gas Explosion: A gas cylinder exploded on Sunday (July 9) in a hotel in Punjab province of Pakistan. After the accident, the three-storey building collapsed and at least six people were killed, while 10 others were injured. The officers provided this information. Local officials said that the three-storey hotel building located on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road in Jhelum in Punjab province collapsed after a cylinder exploded in its kitchen.

News channel Geo quoted Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Samiullah Farooq as saying that six people have been confirmed dead, while 10 injured have been admitted to hospitals for treatment. Samiullah Farooq said that the rescue operation is going on and our team is present here. Four-five people are feared trapped under the debris.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the building collapse and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. Earlier, the Dawn newspaper reported that the explosion occurred at around 9:45 am on Sunday, following which rescue teams reacted quickly and began rescue efforts.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hasan Tariq said all senior doctors and staff were present at the Jhelum district headquarters hospital where the injured were being treated. At the same time, a seriously injured patient was referred to the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Samiullah Farooq said the rescue operation will continue till the entire debris is cleared. Jhelum police said that heavy machines are being used to clear the debris. After the incident, emergency has been implemented in the district headquarters hospital and the entire staff and doctors have been called on duty.
