An Indian travel vlogger has struck an emotional chord with millions online after sharing his transformative experience of living in Japan for a month. Unlike the usual travel reels focusing on quirky cafés or iconic landmarks, Lovepreet Jaggi chose to highlight something deeper—Japan’s cultural values that, according to him, “change you forever.”

In the now-viral Instagram video, Jaggi reflects on the small yet powerful ways Japanese society embodies humility, kindness, and respect in everyday life.

“Here you will learn patience by seeing the long queue outside a ramen store, you’ll learn kindness after seeing people help you even when you don’t ask for it, and learn how to respect after seeing that in the metro, people first wait for the other person to take a seat before taking a seat themselves,” he says in the clip.

For Jaggi, Japan redefines the meaning of progress.

“Japan teaches you that progress is not limited to just creating high-rise buildings; it also lies in humility and harmony. Once you experience all this in Japan, you will return home a changed person. There is also a sense of peace in the crowds here,” he adds.

On his last day in the country, Jaggi shared a heartfelt caption:

“Last day in Japan… and I don’t want to leave. Japan is the only country I don’t feel like leaving from here. It changes you in a way no other country can. The only country I will come to again and again. Arigatou Japan.”

Viral Response

The video has garnered over 2 million views, sparking an outpour of responses from fellow travellers who echoed his sentiments.

One Instagram user wrote:

“Living for 1 year here and I can relate to him. Every country has its strengths and challenges, but the sense of humanity, respect, and cultural richness in Japan is unlike anywhere else. It’s an experience that words can’t fully capture… you have to live it to understand.”

Another added:

“We went to Japan last year and we miss it every day. So hard to move on from this country.”

A third user shared:

“I’ve stayed in Japan and worked there for 2 months and must say, I agree with every bit of what you said. Love and respect for this country.”

From bustling ramen shops to quiet subway rides, Jaggi’s reflections remind viewers that sometimes the most lasting memories of travel aren’t the monuments we see—but the values we carry back home.
