The Embassy of India in Tokyo, through its Vivekananda Cultural Centre, has announced the opening of applications for the prestigious AYUSH Scholarship Programme for the academic year 2026–2027. The initiative is being offered in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, aiming to promote traditional Indian systems of medicine and wellness on a global platform.
The scholarship programme provides international students, including those from Japan, the opportunity to pursue higher education in India across a range of AYUSH disciplines. These include undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha Medicine, and Homeopathy. In addition, students can apply for specialized courses such as a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Yoga, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Yogashastra, and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Yoga.
For advanced academic pursuits, the programme also offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in the fields of Yoga and Ayurveda, encouraging in-depth research and global knowledge exchange in these traditional practices.
The AYUSH Scholarship Programme reflects India’s continued efforts to share its rich heritage of holistic healthcare systems with the world, while strengthening educational and cultural ties with Japan. It also aligns with the growing global interest in wellness, preventive healthcare, and natural healing methods.
Interested applicants are advised to complete their submissions before the deadline of May 15. The programme is expected to attract students passionate about integrating ancient knowledge systems with modern academic frameworks, further enhancing cross-cultural understanding between India and Japan.
