Air India Expands Codeshare Partnership with ANA & Moves to Haneda Airport

Traveling between India and Japan is set to become more convenient as Air India shifts its Tokyo operations from Narita International Airport (NRT) to Haneda Airport (HND). The airline has also expanded its codeshare partnership with All Nippon Airways (ANA), offering passengers more connectivity across Japan.

Why the Move to Haneda Airport Benefits Travelers

1. Shorter Travel Time to Central Tokyo

✈️ Haneda Airport is just 18 km from downtown Tokyo, significantly reducing travel time compared to Narita, which is 70 km away.

✈️ Passengers can now reach Tokyo Station in around 30 minutes, instead of nearly an hour from Narita.

2. More Convenient Flight Operations

✈️ From March 31, 2025, Air India will operate four weekly flights from Delhi to Haneda, replacing its existing services to Narita.

✈️ The move makes India-Japan air travel smoother for both business and leisure travelers.

3. Better Connectivity Across Japan

✈️ Air India and ANA’s expanded codeshare agreement will enable seamless connections to six Japanese cities from Haneda:

  • Fukuoka
  • Hiroshima
  • Nagoya
  • Okinawa
  • Osaka
  • Sapporo

✈️ Passengers can now book a single ticket for their entire journey, with baggage checked through to their final destination.

Expanded Codeshare Agreement: What It Means for Travelers

The Air India-ANA partnership, first signed in April 2024, is now expanding to more destinations.

✔️ Air India’s ‘AI’ code will be placed on ANA’s domestic flights from Tokyo Haneda to six key cities in Japan.

✔️ ANA’s ‘NH’ code will be placed on Air India’s flights between Delhi and Haneda, as well as flights from Delhi to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune.

What this means for travelers:

  • 🔹 One seamless booking for multi-city travel across India and Japan.
  • 🔹 Easier baggage transfers without the hassle of re-checking bags.
  • 🔹 More flexible travel options between the two countries.

Why Air India’s Move to Haneda Matters for Indian Travelers

✅ Business & Tourism Growth: The India-Japan travel corridor is growing rapidly, with more business ties and tourism exchanges between the two nations.

✅ Enhanced Passenger Experience: Shorter airport transfers, fewer travel hassles, and better domestic connections in Japan.

✅ More Flight Options: With ANA’s domestic network now accessible via Air India’s tickets, passengers have more choices when planning their itineraries.

Conclusion: A Game-Changer for India-Japan Travel
