The joint exercise brought together troops from the Indian Army and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) to strengthen operational coordination, improve tactical skills, and enhance mutual understanding between the two forces.

During the exercise, soldiers from both nations participated in a series of intensive training activities designed to simulate real-world combat situations. These included urban warfare drills, counter-terrorism operations, joint tactical manoeuvres, and disaster response scenarios. The exercises aimed to improve interoperability and enable both forces to work together effectively during multinational operations.

Military officials highlighted that the exercise also focused on sharing best practices in modern warfare techniques, leadership, and field operations. Troops trained side by side, exchanging knowledge about equipment handling, combat strategies, and rapid response mechanisms.

Beyond military training, the exercise also provided an opportunity for cultural exchange. Soldiers from India and Japan interacted closely, learning about each other’s traditions, military discipline, and working styles. Such interactions help build trust and camaraderie between the armed forces of the two nations.

Defence cooperation between India and Japan has grown significantly in recent years, reflecting their shared commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific region. Joint exercises like Exercise Dharma Guardian play a crucial role in strengthening strategic ties and enhancing defence preparedness.

The successful completion of the 2026 edition reaffirms the commitment of both countries to deepen military collaboration and strengthen the long-standing partnership between India and Japan.
