India, Japan Share Common Vision for Global Order: Envoy

India and Japan have demonstrated a remarkable alignment in their outlook for the global community, according to Indian Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George. In a special message marking India’s 78th Independence Day, the envoy highlighted the deepening ties between the two nations, emphasizing their shared values and mutual respect.

The cornerstone of the India-Japan partnership lies in the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) initiative, a shared vision for a region based on maritime security, economic prosperity, and adherence to international law. The two countries have intensified their defense cooperation through joint military exercises, strategic dialogues, and the 2020 agreement on sharing military equipment.

Beyond security, economic collaboration is flourishing. Japan has pledged a substantial investment of 5 trillion yen in India by 2027, which is expected to significantly boost India’s economic growth and create numerous job opportunities.Both nations are also collaborating on ambitious projects like lunar exploration and are forging strong partnerships in the digital domain.

Ambassador George emphasized the importance of people-to-people exchanges, stating that they form the bedrock of the India-Japan relationship. He called for increased cooperation in education and cultural exchanges to further strengthen the bond between the two nations.

The envoy described the India-Japan partnership as an “enduring friendship” with the potential to shape a more peaceful,prosperous, and sustainable world. As the relationship continues to deepen, the two countries are poised to play an increasingly influential role in global affairs.
