The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) has introduced a new system called Live 118 to improve emergency responses during maritime accidents. The system, which started on Saturday, allows people to send videos of accidents to the JCG and receive life-saving instructions in return.

How the Video Emergency Reporting System Works ?
When someone reports an emergency, the JCG sends a website link via text message to the caller’s smartphone. Through this link, the caller can share videos of the situation and also watch instructional videos to handle emergencies.
Life-Saving Videos
The JCG has prepared nine types of instructional videos, including guides on:
• Treating burns
• Stopping bleeding
• Clearing a blocked airway
Purpose of the Video Emergency Reporting System
This new system aims to make rescue operations faster and more effective by providing real-time visuals to the Coast Guard and empowering callers with practical guidance.
The Live 118 system is a step forward in ensuring safety during maritime incidents and helping people take immediate action while waiting for help to arrive.
