Tokyo, April 25, 2025 – The Embassy of India in Tokyo has announced the cancellation of a scheduled interaction with Shri Chirag Paswan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. The event, planned for April 28, 2025, from 17:00 to 18:00 hrs (JST), was intended to facilitate a dialogue between the Minister and the Indian community in Japan at the Embassy premises.
No official reason for the cancellation has been disclosed by the Embassy or the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. The announcement was made via a brief communication stating, “Minister MoFPI Chirag Paswan ji’s visit got cancelled.” This abrupt decision has left community members and organizers awaiting further clarification.
Shri Chirag Paswan, who assumed the role of Union Minister in June 2024, has been actively engaged in promoting India’s food processing sector on global platforms. His recent activities include inaugurating the 8th edition of Indusfood 2025 in Greater Noida and addressing the Indian diaspora in France in October 2024, where he highlighted India’s economic progress and the contributions of the diaspora. The planned visit to Japan was anticipated to strengthen ties with the Indian community and explore opportunities for collaboration in the food processing industry.
The cancellation comes as a disappointment to the Indian diaspora in Japan, who were looking forward to engaging with the Minister on matters of cultural and economic significance. The Embassy has not yet indicated whether the event will be rescheduled or if alternative arrangements will be made.
For further updates, the Indian community in Japan is advised to stay in touch with the Embassy of India, Tokyo, through its official channels.
