8th Japan-India Indo-Pacific Forum Begins in Tokyo

The 8th Japan-India Indo-Pacific Forum, also known as the 11th Japan-India Track 1.5 Dialogue, began in Tokyo with a wide-ranging agenda focused on bilateral, regional, and global issues.

The opening session featured remarks by Shri R. Madhu Sudan, Chargé d’Affaires of India, who shared insights on the growing partnership between India and Japan in maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific region.

Ambassador Hemant Krishan Singh from the Delhi Policy Group (DPG) and Ambassador Kenichiro Sasae from the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) also delivered opening remarks. Their speeches emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and dialogue between the two nations in addressing shared challenges and opportunities.

Ambassador Keiichi Ono joined the session virtually from New Delhi, offering special remarks highlighting Japan’s commitment to strengthening strategic and economic ties with India.

The forum serves as an important platform for policy experts, diplomats, and scholars from both countries to exchange views on key developments in the Indo-Pacific. Discussions are expected to cover security cooperation, regional connectivity, supply chain resilience, and collaboration in emerging technologies.
