The Consulate General of India in Fukuoka has officially invited applications for the post of Interpreter, offering a significant opportunity for experienced language professionals to work with India’s diplomatic mission in Japan. According to the notification, the last date for applying is 08 January 2026. The selected candidate will be based exclusively in Fukuoka and will work closely with the Consulate on official, administrative, and communication-related tasks.
The position follows standard working hours of 09:00 to 17:30 (five days a week). However, candidates must be willing to work beyond regular office hours, including weekends and holidays, whenever official requirements arise.
The role offers a starting salary of ¥507,612 per month, making it a competitive opportunity for qualified professionals with relevant experience.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants must hold a degree from a recognized university and possess certification in English proficiency, such as TOEIC or TOEFL. The preferred age range is 20 to 45 years as of the application deadline.
A minimum of five years of professional experience as a translator or interpreter is mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a strong command of both English and Japanese, with the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both languages. The role also requires accurate translation of official letters and emails between English and Japanese.
Skills and Health Requirements
Strong computer skills are essential, particularly in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute. Applicants must be able to translate quickly, confidently, and accurately, while speaking clearly with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions in both languages.
Candidates must be in good mental and physical health and will be required to submit a medical fitness certificate at the time of appointment.
For foreign nationals other than Japanese, eligibility is limited to those who already hold a valid local work permit or resident visa, in accordance with Japanese laws governing employment in foreign diplomatic missions.
