The Embassy of Japan in India has announced an exciting career opportunity for professionals interested in international development and project management. The opening is for a Project Coordinator under the Economic Section, specifically for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) initiative.
This role is ideal for candidates with a background in social work, development, or NGO operations who are looking to contribute to impactful grassroots-level projects while working in a global diplomatic environment.
The position of Project Coordinator involves working closely under the guidance of a Japanese supervisor and supporting the implementation of development projects across India.
● Handling inquiries (via phone, email, and in-person) related to the GGP scheme
● Guiding applicants on procedures and documentation
● Reviewing and scrutinizing project proposals from organizations such as NGOs
● Analyzing project management and implementation plans
● Providing technical assistance to ensure smooth project execution
● Monitoring ongoing projects, including field visits when required
● Managing arrangements for official ceremonies and visits
● Reporting project progress and maintaining documentation
● Coordinating with GGP teams at Japanese Consulate-Generals across India
● Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Embassy
● Location: Chanakyapuri New Delhi
● Office: Embassy of Japan, 50-G
● Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
● Leave Policy: 20 paid leaves annually
Candidates applying for this role should meet the following requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in development studies or social work)
● Knowledge of accounting principles
● Minimum 2 years of experience in project or grant management (preferred)
● Experience working with NGOs is an added advantage
● Strong administrative and computer skills (MS Word & Excel)
● Proficiency in both English and Hindi (excellent writing skills required)
● Ability to take initiative and handle responsibilities independently
● Strong teamwork and communication skills
● Salary: Based on qualifications and experience
● Contract Duration: From 1st July 2026 to 31st March 2027
