Ambassador Nagma M. Mallick was accorded a warm and gracious welcome to Japan by the Japan-India Association (JIA), the International Cultural Initiative of Japan (ICIJ), and the Japan-India Business Cooperation Committee (JIBCC) at a special reception held on 10 February 2026.
The welcome reception brought together distinguished dignitaries, long-standing friends of India, and members of the vibrant Indian community in Japan. Among the eminent attendees were H.E. Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, and H.E. Mr. Yasutoshi Nishimura, Chairman of the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship League (JIPFL). Their presence underscored the importance of the India-Japan partnership and the strong goodwill shared between the two nations.
The event reflected the deep-rooted ties and growing cooperation between India and Japan across political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people dimensions. Leaders and representatives from both countries expressed optimism about further strengthening bilateral relations under Ambassador Mallick’s leadership.
Special appreciation was extended to H.E. Mr. Akitaka Saiki, President of the Japan-India Association; Mr. Tatsuo Yasunaga, Chairman of JIBCC; and Mr. Ryuko Hira, Chairman of ICIJ, for hosting the reception and for their continued efforts in promoting India-Japan engagement.
