Alert Against Embassy Phone Number Spoofing, February 11, 2025
The Embassy of India in Tokyo has issued an important advisory warning Indian nationals in Japan about fraudulent calls attempting to extort money. Miscreants have been spoofing the official Embassy telephone numbers and posing as embassy officials to scam individuals.
Key Advisory Points
- No such calls are being made by the Embassy of India.
- Do not engage with these callers and never transfer money to them.
- Report suspicious calls immediately to the Embassy via email at sscons.tokyo@mea.gov.in.
- Contact the official emergency helpline numbers listed below in case of concerns.
- Share this advisory widely with other members of the Indian diaspora in Japan.

If you receive a suspicious call demanding money or personal details, do not respond and immediately report it to:
