India enjoyed another successful day at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, as the country’s athletes added a silver medal in weightlifting and a historic bronze medal in shooting to the national tally.
Historic Bronze for Women’s Skeet Team

The Indian women’s skeet team of Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan created history by winning the bronze medal in the Women’s Skeet Team event. The achievement marked India’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the women’s skeet team competition.
The trio delivered a strong performance against some of Asia’s top shooting nations, continuing India’s impressive tradition in shooting at major international events. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated the team on their achievement.
Mirabai Chanu Wins Weightlifting Silver
Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu clinched a silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event, securing her maiden Asian Games medal. Chanu recorded a total lift of 198kg, with 87kg in the snatch and 111kg in the clean and jerk.
The silver medal completed another significant milestone in Chanu’s decorated career, adding an Asian Games medal to her Olympic, World Championship, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Championship achievements.
The medals further strengthened India’s campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, where the country is aiming to surpass its previous Asian Games performances across multiple disciplines.
