India Seeks Deeper Ties with Japan in Supply Chain and Defense

India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, has called for enhanced cooperation between the two nations in the realms of supply chain and defense. Speaking to The Japan Times, Ambassador George highlighted the growing interest of Japanese businesses in India as an alternative supply chain hub amidst geopolitical tensions.

India’s rapid economic growth, coupled with its skilled workforce, has made it an attractive destination for Japanese companies seeking to diversify their supply chains. The ambassador noted a surge in business delegations from Japan to India, often comprising over 100 members eager to explore investment opportunities.

Beyond economic cooperation, Ambassador George emphasized the importance of strengthening defense ties between India and Japan. Both nations share a common vision of a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, and defense collaboration is seen as a crucial pillar of this partnership.
