The event highlighted the deep cultural ties between India and Japan, as well as their shared commitment to promoting peace and nuclear disarmament. The choice of the Gandhi statue as the focal point of the ceremony symbolised the universal appeal of his philosophy and its relevance to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
