Indian-American Astronaut Sunita Williams Celebrates Diwali from Space

 Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams extended heartfelt Diwali greetings to the world from the International Space Station (ISS) on Tuesday. In a special message, Williams shared her unique perspective on celebrating the festival of lights from 260 miles above the Earth.

“Greetings from the ISS. I want to extend my warmest wishes for a Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating today at the White House and around the world. This year I have the unique opportunity to celebrate Diwali from 260 miles above the earth on the ISS,” Williams said in her message.   

Williams, who has a significant Indian heritage, expressed her excitement to celebrate Diwali from space. She highlighted the significance of the festival, emphasizing the importance of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.
