Assam CM Expresses Gratitude Assam Week
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the Indian Embassy in Japan for organizing the event. He highlighted Assam’s potential to become a leading state in India with focused efforts in various sectors.
On X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister wrote:
“Indian Embassies are celebrating Assam Week to showcase the state’s rich heritage and its potential to become a leading state in India with concerted efforts in education, industry, security, and agriculture.”
Focus on Technology and Industry
The event began on Wednesday with a spotlight on electronics and semiconductors. The following day highlighted Assam’s advancements in the aerospace and defense sectors.
A major highlight of the state’s progress is the Tata semiconductor unit in Morigaon, approved by the Union Cabinet in 2023. This project, with an investment of ₹27,000 crores, focuses on advanced semiconductor technologies like flip chip and I-SIP. These are crucial for applications in electric vehicles, communication, and networks.
Economic and Job Opportunities
The Morigaon semiconductor unit is expected to produce 48 million chips daily and bring significant benefits to the region. It will create 15,000 direct jobs and 11,000–13,000 indirect jobs, boosting Assam’s economic growth.

‘Assam Week’ not only highlights the state’s technological growth but also celebrates its cultural heritage, showcasing its contributions to the nation. The event is a step toward fostering global awareness about Assam’s potential and building strong ties with Japan.
