Pokémon fans around the world have a new reason to pack their bags for Japan. “POKEPARK KANTO”, the first-ever permanent outdoor Pokémon-themed attraction, is officially set to open in spring 2026 in Tokyo.
A Landmark Location for Pokémon Fans
The new attraction will be located within Yomiuriland, a popular amusement park nestled in the scenic Tama Hills area of Tokyo’s Kanto region. Covering a sprawling 2.6 hectares (26,000 square meters), POKEPARK KANTO promises to be an immersive experience for fans of all ages.
Two Distinct Worlds to Explore
The park will be divided into two main zones, each offering a unique adventure:
- Pokémon Forest – A nature trail designed to feel like a real-world Pokémon journey. Visitors can explore hilly paths, tall grass, and other natural settings while encountering over 600 Pokémon in lifelike models. The seasonal and weather-based design changes will make every visit feel new and exciting.
- Sedge Town – A lively Pokémon-inspired town complete with themed shops, a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart, and even a gym. This area will host Pokémon parades, interactive attractions, and feature a striking Primarina-themed fountain as its centerpiece.
Bringing Pokémon to Life
The creative vision for POKEPARK KANTO is being led by Junichi Masuda of Game Freak, one of the original creators of the Pokémon series. Developed in collaboration between The Pokémon Company, Yomiuri Land, and The Yomiuri Shimbun, the park aims to bring the magic of Pokémon into the real world.
What sets POKEPARK KANTO apart is its use of physical Pokémon models that will change appearances based on the season and weather, ensuring a dynamic and ever-evolving experience.
Ticket Sales and Opening Plans
Advance ticket sales are expected to begin in late 2025, with pricing and reservation details to be revealed closer to the opening date. Given the global appeal of Pokémon, fans are advised to plan early to secure their spots.
POKEPARK KANTO isn’t just another theme park—it’s a long-awaited dream come true for Pokémon lovers, blending nature, interactivity, and nostalgia into one unforgettable destination.
