Unveiled in Bengaluru on October 31, 2026, Duora2 marks the first Japan-designed product from KOKUYO’s parent company to be introduced in the Indian market. The launch reflects the company’s growing focus on premium office seating and its efforts to bring Japanese design and engineering together with local manufacturing.

Designed for Different Working Postures

Duora2 has been developed to support the different ways people sit throughout a typical working day. Employees may lean forward while working on laptops, sit upright during meetings or recline while attending calls.

The chair features adjustable lower-back support that accommodates forward-leaning, upright and reclined positions. Its seat also tilts slightly forward when the user leans towards a desk, helping support the spine’s natural curve.

The product is the second generation of KOKUYO’s Duora chair range and has been available in Japan since January 2024.

Launch Event Brings Together Leaders from Japan and India

The chair was unveiled in Bengaluru in the presence of senior representatives from KOKUYO’s Indian and Japanese operations.

Those attending included Karan Sachdev, Managing Director of KOKUYO Workplace India; Daisuke Watanabe, Head of the Southeast Asia and India Division at KOKUYO Co. Ltd.; and Masayoshi Suzuki, Lead Designer of Duora2.

Architects, interior designers and corporate clients also attended the launch event.

Sachdev highlighted the importance of combining Japanese design and engineering with manufacturing in India. He noted that modern employees frequently change their sitting positions during work and that office seating should accommodate these everyday requirements.

Suzuki explained that the chair was developed by observing how people actually sit and move at work, with the aim of supporting different postures without requiring frequent adjustments.

KOKUYO Expands Its Premium Seating Business

The launch comes as KOKUYO Workplace India looks to expand its presence in the country’s office furniture market.

The company expects its revenue to grow by 40% in the current financial year compared with the previous year. It also aims to double its seating-category revenue over the next three years.

As part of its expansion plans, KOKUYO intends to introduce another three to five Japan-developed products to India over the next 24 months.

The company is also responding to changing workplace requirements, particularly as businesses and Global Capability Centres invest in office environments designed to support employee comfort and productivity.

Availability Across Major Indian Cities

Duora2 is available through KOKUYO Workplace India’s Experience Centres in Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, along with its dealer network across the country.

The chair has also been made available for online purchase through the company’s official website, kokuyo-india.com, from November 1, 2026.

KOKUYO will further showcase Duora2, including a special one-off edition, alongside other products at ORGATEC India in Mumbai from November 19 to 21, 2026.

Final Word

The introduction of Duora2 represents another step in KOKUYO’s India expansion, bringing Japanese-designed workplace furniture closer to Indian businesses and consumers. With design development in Japan and manufacturing in Nagpur, the launch highlights the company’s approach of combining international design expertise with local production.
