Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Edogawa, Tokyo, during a special event organized with the Indian diaspora in Japan on Monday.
Accompanied by members of the vibrant Indian community in Japan, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma honoured the Father of the Nation, emphasizing the timeless relevance of Gandhi’s message of peace and non-violence. Speaking at the occasion, he reflected on Mahatma Gandhi’s influence not only on India but also on global movements for justice and equality.
The event, held in Tokyo’s Edogawa district, saw enthusiastic participation from the Indian diaspora, who expressed pride in witnessing a leader from India commemorate Gandhi’s ideals on foreign soil. Many attendees shared personal reflections on how Gandhi’s teachings have impacted their lives and remain a guiding force even abroad.
The tribute ceremony also served as a bridge for strengthening ties between Assam and the Indian community in Japan.
