New Delhi witnessed an elegant and heartfelt celebration as Elhita Theres Catherine Madone Thampuran, daughter of former Indian Ambassador Sibi George present secretary west and Joice Sibi, entered into holy matrimony with Ryota Odachi of Japan. The wedding ceremony took place on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 3:00 PM (IST) at the historic Sacred Heart Cathedral, New Delhi.
The solemn marriage ceremony was attended by close family members, diplomats, senior government officials, and well-wishers from India and abroad. Adding special significance to the occasion, India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and IT was present to bless the newlyweds, reflecting the deep respect shared within India’s diplomatic community.
Elhita, the beloved daughter of Sibi George who has previously served as India’s Ambassador to Japan and present secretary west was united in marriage with Ryota Odachi, son of Kenji and Fumie Odachi of Japan. Following the church ceremony, a formal dinner was hosted in the evening at the Civil Services Officers’ Institute, Chanakyapuri, where guests gathered to celebrate the joyous occasion.
