The stage is set for ICFAST TOKYO 2026 – India-Japan Science & Technology Seminar, a landmark event bringing together leading scientists, academicians, policymakers, and young innovators from India and Japan. Hosted at Ichijo Hall, University of Tokyo, the two-day seminar aims to deepen bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and education.

Organized by the India Japan Society for Science, Technology, and Education (IJSSTE) in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Tokyo, the University of Tokyo, and the Indian JSPS Alumni Association, the seminar highlights the growing momentum in India–Japan scientific engagement.

Grand Inauguration with Distinguished Dignitaries

The seminar will be inaugurated by H.E. Ms. Nagma M. Mallick, Ambassador of India to Japan, reflecting the strong diplomatic support behind this academic partnership. The inaugural session will be chaired by Prof. Yujin Yaguchi, Vice President of the University of Tokyo.

Felicitation addresses will be delivered by senior representatives of Japan’s premier science bodies, including Mr. Shiota Tsuyoshi, Executive Director of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), and Mr. Ito Sotaro, Deputy Director General of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), under the Sakura Science Program.

Keynote Addresses by Global Leaders

One of the major highlights of ICFAST TOKYO 2026 is the keynote session featuring globally renowned experts:

● Prof. Kajita Takaaki, Nobel Laureate in Physics 2015 from the University of Tokyo, known for his groundbreaking work in neutrino physics.

● Mr. B. V. R. Mohan Reddy, Founder Chairman & Board Member of Cyient and Chairman of the Board of Governors at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.

Their insights are expected to inspire both established researchers and young minds, reinforcing the importance of innovation, collaboration, and global scientific responsibility.

Institutional Dialogues for Sustainable Partnerships

The seminar will also bring together university presidents, vice presidents, vice chancellors, and directors from both nations. Through institutional presentations and a dedicated brainstorming session, participants will explore pathways for sustainable, impactful, and long-term India–Japan collaborations in research, innovation, and academic exchange.

These discussions aim to strengthen joint research programs, faculty exchanges, student mobility initiatives, and co-funded scientific projects.

ICFAST TOKYO 2026 places special emphasis on youth participation. The program includes:

● Oral and poster presentations by young scientists

● Project presentations by high school students

● A special interactive session titled “Inspiring Young Minds”

In this unique session, high school students will engage directly with Prof. Kajita Takaaki and Mr. B. V. R. Mohan Reddy. The interaction is designed to motivate students to pursue excellence in science and technology, nurturing the next generation of innovators and global thinkers.
