The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved a significant milestone on Tuesday by successfully conducting the maiden flight test of the Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM). The test was carried out from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off Odisha’s Chandipur coast.
The LRLACM, launched from a mobile articulated launcher, demonstrated flawless performance throughout its flight. All subsystems functioned as expected, meeting the primary mission objectives. The missile’s trajectory was meticulously monitored by a network of radar and electro-optical tracking systems deployed by the ITR at various locations, ensuring complete coverage of the flight path.
The successful test marks a significant advancement in India’s indigenous missile capabilities. The LRLACM, developed by the Bengaluru-based Aeronautical Development Establishment, is designed to enhance the country’s strategic strike capabilities.
This achievement underscores DRDO’s commitment to developing cutting-edge defense technologies and strengthening India’s military prowess.
